Job Description

  • To provide daily supervision and management of a team of technicians and subcontractors with responsibility for the service & maintenance of mechanical/HVAC/Electrical systems and services and building fabric including carpentry and flooring
  • Take full responsibility for asset care strategy, annual PPM program, Workorder Planning & Scheduling, reactive/corrective task management and project works associated with the delivery of exceptional technical services
  • As the primary technical client interface, you will work closely with the site manager to deliver best-in-class service & maintenance, planned and reactive Asset Care, customer-centric task co-ordination and schedule management
  • To lead the delivery of Technical Training within the team, through identification of competency training, leading by example, and co-ordination of the training programme
  • You will have responsibility for a team of between 7 and 14 technicians, including line management, HR, EHS, Team performance, engagement, and communications
  • You will be responsible for the planning & scheduling of all reactive and maintenance tasks through our ERP system on a weekly basis. Hold weekly Planning meeting with technician team to match resources (people, contractors, materials & equipment) and task activities in an efficient and structured manner to drive productivity and customer satisfaction
  • You will communicate daily with both team and customer to ensure work packages are managed efficiently and effectively, and in line with client KPIs, maximising the productivity and efficiency of the Technicians and subcontractors
  • Ensure that all service and maintenance service tasks are delivered on time, on budget in a compliant manner
  • Work in partnership with the Contract Co-ordinator to plan, schedule, and delivery efficient and effective Residence Turnaround Programs three times a year
  • As a team lead, you will be directly responsible for the line management of your technical team ensure all QHSE policies and procedures are adhered to. You are also responsible for all HR functions such as recruitment, performance management, training & development, team development, disciplinary procedures, and annual reviews
  • Act as Technical Subject Matter Expert for both technician team and customers, especially with respect to Mechanical and Electrical systems
  • Ensure robust management and leadership of technician team, providing ambition and commitment to the business. Be an enabler to success

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the smooth execution of day-to-day technical services (Technician Team and Sub-contractors) through the delivery of world class customer service levels delivered to the highest level of compliance, safety and quality standards
  • Ensure all health, safety and environmental requirements are fulfilled prior to work commencement. Ensure all works activities are carried out within agreed timelines, while ensuring safe systems of work (RA, MS, SPA and Permits) are adhered to
  • Drive the Technician team and subcontractors to meet and exceed against measurable targets, SLAs and KPIs
  • Responsible for all technician team HR matters, from recruitment, onboarding, training, development, appraisal, performance management and disciplinary processes
  • A brilliant multi-tasker and team communicator, the Technical Team Lead will ensure that all technical tasks, services, PPMs, Reactive tasks, and projects are completed successfully for the customers
  • Ensure customer-centric service while meeting the commercial commitments of the service and maintenance contract
  • Proactively developing customer relationships by making efforts to listen to and understand the customer (internal and external). Demonstrates a diplomatic personal style in addressing customer needs
  • Seek out commercial growth opportunities, and drive cost savings by challenging spend patterns where appropriate. Assist with financial quotations, procurement, billing, and invoicing
  • Seek to find continuous improvements and sustainability opportunities and bring them to the Site Manager for review. Complete RCA when trouble shooting to ensure process improvements
  • Be flexible and assist the Site Manager and planner in any service, maintenance, project, or reactive tasks
  • Issue monthly reports detailing key performance indicators un relation to technical services objectives for technician team and subcontractors
  • Be an ambassador through exceptional performance, positive values and behaviours, insightful investigations, clear communications and collaborative team development
  • Be flexible and willing to carry out other duties as may be assigned to you by the Site Manager from time to time. Such work may be outside the area of your normal duties

Experience, Training & Qualifications:

  • Minimum eight years’ experience in Mechanical/HVAC/Electrical Technical services and technician & contractor management
  • Candidate needs to be self-starter, strong communication capability, determined, professional and extremely well organized
  • Customer focused : delivering an exceptional service in order to meet and exceed our customers’ expectations
  • Effective Communicator: Professional and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Teamwork: Actively contribute to the development of a positive team environment, demonstrating a flexible approach
  • Attention to Detail: Ensures that work is executed accurately and completely, paying close attention to the detail. The ability to produce clearly written reports and present to a diverse stakeholder group in a clear and concise manner
  • Fully PC literate and experienced using Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Office Project, and Business Management platforms
  • The role requires an individual with a customer focus, proactive attitude, and technical strengths, combined with an ability to communicate effectively under constant pressure with a multitude of stakeholders
  • Experience in Asset care and reliability would be beneficial, as would commercial awareness and financial management
  • Hold a current valid driving license
