Our History
The Beginning
McKeon Construction was founded in 1950 by Tom McKeon, who began providing construction and maintenance services from a single van. Built on hard work, craftsmanship and a commitment to doing the right thing, the business quickly earned the trust of local clients, many of whom are still valued clients.
An innovator by nature, Tom was known for his resourcefulness, from making bricks to crafting his own tools. His determination, integrity and practical approach laid the foundations for the company and continue to influence how we work today.

In 1979, Tom’s son, Tomás Mac Eoin, together with his brothers Sean and Gay, registered McKeon Construction as a limited company, building on their father’s legacy and commitment to client service.
Leaving behind a successful career as a maths teacher, Tomás dedicated himself to growing the business into a trusted construction contractor serving the education, commercial and residential sectors. While the company expanded significantly during this period, its focus remained the same, delivering quality work, building lasting relationships and investing in people.
Tomás’ passion for learning and development became a defining part of the company’s culture, creating opportunities for education, training and professional growth that continue to shape McKeon Group today.
Evolution & Growth
Today, as a third-generation family business, McKeon Group combines construction, specialist fit out, facilities maintenance services, and smart building technology expertise to support clients throughout the full building lifecycle.
In 2011, the business officially rebranded as McKeon Group, reflecting our broader range of integrated services and long-term vision for growth. As our clients’ needs evolved, so did our business. Expanding beyond traditional construction, we developed specialist expertise across multiple disciplines, including the creation of Hereworks, McKeon Group’s digital buildings company, enabling us to deliver a more comprehensive service and long-term support for the buildings, spaces and places we help create.
While our capabilities have evolved over the decades, the principles established in 1950 remain unchanged. Integrity, quality, innovation and client commitment continue to guide everything we do, helping us build trusted partnerships and deliver lasting value for our clients and communities.
