Mechanical Infrastructure and Control Upgrade
Project Team
Overview
McKeon Group undertook a full Mechanical Infrastructure and Control Upgrade at the historical All Hallows Campus of Dublin City University in Drumcondra.
HISTORICAL
The campus consists of a mix of nine interconnected historical and modern buildings, the oldest of which was Built in 1725. The existing heating systems were inefficient, unreliable, and required a complete strip out and installation of a new mechanical infrastructure and system circuits to existing heating outlets.
DCU as part of their 2020 strategy wishing to reduce energy consumption by 33%, targeted the All Hallows Campus as a priority.
The new system designed for Optimal Efficiency required the installation of five new boiler rooms and one plant room plus the rationalisation of the Gas main across the campus from multiple to single main supply from one utility meter. The success of this project has received official praise and recognition from Minister for Communications, Climate Action and the Environment.
