Overview
TOWN HALL
The client required an update to the existing building to support its new customer service initiative and to improve the facilities for its councillors. The works consisted of a complete re-design of the council chambers, a new glazed lobby entrance to the glass faƧade and a new reception/public information space.
More specifically works included architectural steel frame and glazed entrance, creation of new rooms and incorporation of bespoke joinery in the reception and council chambers, acoustic panelling installation, building services, creation of new work and gallery spaces, finishes and decorations throughout.
The project was undertaken to create a more engaging and intuitive space for the public and to accommodate an additional number of councillors, viewing gallery and translation booth in the chamber.
The works were delivered in a Public, Operational, Live-Site Environment. This required a highly stringent programme, sensitive to the operational needs of the client. Demolition, fit out and building services were all delivered by McKeon Group.
