The project involved installing a new process line and creating specialist laboratory and cleanroom spaces to support the client’s ongoing production requirements.
Works were carried out within existing facilities and included the construction of a new two-storey structure within a double-height space, creating additional production and laboratory accommodation while maintaining the integrity of the operational building.
The Challenge
The primary challenge was delivering significant construction works within a live pharmaceutical environment without disrupting ongoing operations. The project required the installation of a new production line alongside the construction of new accommodation at both ground and first-floor levels within an occupied facilities.
Careful planning, sequencing and coordination were essential to ensure the safety of personnel, maintain operational continuity and minimise disruption to manufacturing activities. The project was delivered during the COVID-19 pandemic, adding further logistical and operational complexities.
