DCU Business School Extension

Located on the busy Dublin City University Campus, the extension involved the construction of a third floor on top of an existing Reinforced Concrete Structure two-story building.

The third floor was constructed using a steel frame and the enclosing walls were a Glazed Curtain Wall.

The existing stairs were extended to the new floor by means of cantilevering the new extended stairs beyond the footprint of the building over the campus main road requiring Millimetre Perfect structural preparation and installation.

Works also included the fit out and decoration of the new extension.

The building remained in use during the contract and there was a very short contract period of four months, due to the commencement of the student semester. A Tight Programme was met, enabling all lectures to commence with no interruption.
